Swen Kählert was born in 1969 in Hamburg, where he studied architecture at the University of Applied Sciences. He expanded his artistic repertoire through studies with artists such as painter and graphic artist Prof. Armin Sandig. In 1997, he received an international scholarship from the Carl Duisberg Gesellschaft for Venezuela, where he worked on designs for metro stations and public spaces in the capital city of Caracas. Since 2000, Kählert has focused on painting, architecture, and increasingly on public art. Occasionally, he also creates stage designs. The architect in him always thinks spatially, while the painter experiments with materials like a researcher. Kählert works with a wide range of materials, including concrete, paint, wood, plastic, tape, and even plants.
